We pride ourselves on raising 100% grass fed and grass finished beef, raised the way nature inteded. Our beef is never exposed to antibiotics or given growth hormones. our pastures have been organic for over 20 years! Our rotational grazing practices help to ensure quality feed value in the grasses our cattle eat.
We plant grasses that produce the carbohydrates cattle need to finish. These include Meadow Fescue, Orchard grass, Festulolium and Timothy. We also plant or frost seed legumes such as Alfalfa, Red Clover and White Clover, which provide the protein animals need for growing. Dandelion, chicory and other native plants and grasses are also naturally occurring in our pastures and are a great liver cleanse for them as well as adding variety and needed minerals.
Often times we have customers reserve a half or whole beef and then share it with a family member or friend.
It is easiest for us to collect one payment for all parties invovled. If you would like to have each person pay seperately I would suggest each person complete a reservation form and indicate who you are sharing with so that we can pair you together.
We currently accept check, cash, Venmo or PayPal for deposits. Deposits are non-refundable. When you reserve your processing date we ask that you mail us a deposit, $200 for a quarter and $400 for a half. This deposit will go towards your overall purchase costs.
We offer you the ability to pay the remainder of your balance with cash, check or credit card via our Square account.
We choose Angus-Cross beef cattle for fast growing, big framed genetics that have proven to do well for us on a grass only diet. Our cattle average 1050 to 1200 lbs. at finish and are well-marbled.
In spring and summer when there is an over abundance of pasture we cut and bale feed and make it into baleage. Baleage is hay that has a higher moisture content that can be made quicker than dry hay. Which means it can be baled sooner and has a higher feed value quality. We are less at the mercy of Mother nature for providing us with several days of hot sunny weather that is needed for dry hay. Next to pasture it is their feed of choice.
For our beef, we use Sorg’s Quality Meats and Sausage. They are located at N4290 Hwy. 14, a half mile south of Hwy 11, Darien, WI. They can be contacted at 262.724.5554 or 262.724.3364. They are a small, family-owned plant that works closely with our customers. They are located only 3 miles from our farm so our animals are minimally stressed during transportation. We have known and worked with the Sorg family for many years.
The day before your processing date you will receive an email with instructions on how to contact Sorg's and place your cutting order. Customers can expect about a 2.5-3 week turnaround time from processing date to pick up.
Customers pay processing directly to Sorg's upon pick up. A separate invoice is email from Booth Family Farm based on the final hanging weight of the beef.
